Classification of power cables

1. According to the voltage level, it can be classified into low-voltage power cables, medium-voltage power cables, high-voltage power cables, ultra-high-voltage power cables and ultra-high-voltage power cables.

Low voltage power cable: Low voltage power cable is suitable for the transmission of electric energy on the circuit with AC 50Hz rated voltage of 3kV and below this standard.

Medium voltage power cable: medium voltage power cable has different kinds, such as PVC insulated cable, polyethylene cable and so on, the voltage of medium voltage cable is below 35kV.

High voltage cable: high voltage power cable includes polyethylene cable and crosslinked polyethylene insulated cable, etc., the voltage of high voltage cable is above 110kV.

Oil-immersed paper power cable has a long history of use, with low price, long service time and safe and reliable characteristics. But then with the development of technology, with the non-drip oil impregnated paper insulation, this problem has been solved, and the oil impregnated paper cable has been widely used.

Plastic insulated power cable, its insulation effect comes from the extrusion of plastic, this plastic is usually used polyethylene, crosslinked polyethylene and so on. The structure of plastic cable is very simple, and it is also very convenient in processing and manufacturing, and it will not be limited by the drop when installing. This type of insulated power cable is usually used as a low-voltage cable in applications, and there is a trend to make it possible to replace viscous oil-immersed insulated cables. However, this kind of cable also has its own disadvantage, which is easy to be broken down, which makes it cannot be used as a high-voltage cable.

Rubber insulated power cable, the source of its insulation layer is added to the rubber with a variety of agents, these raw materials together after mixing will squeeze them on the wire core, and then after processing vulcanization process is completed. The cable is flexible and elastic, and can be used when the cable is moved frequently and when the cable is bent.
