Classification of Cable Accessories

The accessories of 110kV and above crosslinked polyethylene insulated cable (referred to as crosslinked cable) are mainly composed of two parts: cable termination and cable straight through joint.

The main types of cable termination are: outdoor termination, GIS termination and transformer termination. At present, the main form commonly used is prefabricated rubber stress cone termination (referred to as prefabricated termination).

Cable Accessories structure features

The cable accessories are mainly divided into: wrapped cable accessories, wrapped plastic model cable accessories, prefabricated cable accessories, etc. In the construction process, the prefabricated cable termination and cable straight through joint are mainly used in a wide range, so the structural characteristics of these two kinds of cable accessories are mainly introduced.

Prefabricated termination

Prefabricated terminals of 110kV and above high voltage crosslinked cables are insulated with prefabricated stress cones to control the electric field, and insulated with porcelain bushing or epoxy resin bushing. Between the casing and the stress cone are generally filled with silicone oil or polybutene, polyisobutene and other insulating oil. The structure of some GIS termination is to attach the stress cone to the epoxy resin sleeve, which is not filled with insulating oil, so it is called dry insulated GIS termination.

Integral prefabricated straight through joint

The semi-conductive inner shield, the main insulation, the stress cone and the semi-conductive outer shield of the joint are prefabricated into a whole joint preform in the factory. For on-site installation, just place the whole joint prefabricated on the cable insulation. During the installation process, the interface between the prefabricated part of the straight through joint and the cable insulation is exposed for a short time, the joint process is simple, and the installation time is shortened.
