General requirements for installation of Heat Shrinkable Power Cable Accessories

Before installation, construction personnel should read this instruction carefully, make sure all the tools required are all in readiness and construction personnel should be familiar with the use of various tools, inspection and precautions. In the installation process of heat shrinkable cable accessories, the cable core part, the insulation material tool for construction and the construction personnel must keep clean. The construction site should be with enough light, clean and dry. Outdoor construction should set up a protective shed, aerial work should set up an operating platform. Safety measures should be done when there is live equipment nearby.

The construction site should comply with fire safety regulations, and there should be fire extinguishing equipment on site. Please pay attention to fire and explosion protection when using propane spray gun and fuel burner. The installation should be under above 0℃ and below 70% relative humidity. Please take remedial measures if the ambient temperature is lower or the relative humidity is higher. Remedial measures should be taken if the cable is water penetrated or damped.

Technical Requirements for heating

Heating tool is recommended to use propane spray gun. Please pay attention to the appropriate far away from the materials and strictly control the temperature when heating. The heating temperature for the heat shrinkable materials is 120℃ to 140℃. Don’t heat at a part with high temperature and long time, otherwise it will damage and burn the materials and affect the performance of the materials. The sequence of shrinkage in the installation procedure should be according to the initial shrinkage position and shrinkage direction, which will help to eliminate the shrinkage of gas and enhance the sealing. In order to ensure tight bonding and bonding strength between the heat shrinkable materials and the wrapped materials, the wrapped part should be preheated and then clean by cleaning tissue before inserting the heat shrinkable materials.

Special Notes

During the process of construction, it is strictly forbidden to damage the insulation layer when stripping the semi-conductive insulation shield layer of the cable. The cut-off port of the semi-conductive insulation shield layer must be flat, smooth and chamfered, and the grinding must be smooth and free of defects. The surface of semi-conductive insulation shield layer and insulation layer must be cleaned. It is strictly prohibited to damage the cable oversheath or bend the cable excessively. 

Confirm the final operation location of cable joint before installation. Don't move the cable joint after installation.
