Common problems with heat shrinkable tube

2023-03-16
Heat shrink tube is one of the best choices for wire insulation. In addition to excellent insulation, it has many other useful features, such as the ability to bundle cables, add stress relief or specific color code wires.

Although there are many heat-shrinkable materials, polyolefin is by far the most common. In addition to polyolefin, there are PVC, rubber elastomer, PVDF, silica gel, PTFE and FEP and other materials made of more professional heat shrink tube.

The shrinkage rate of different heat shrinkable tubes is different, which determines the shrinkage size of heat shrinkable tubes. For example, a heat shrink tube with a diameter of 5 mm will shrink completely to 2.5 mm if the shrinkage rate is 2:1. Most heat shrink tubes also shrink slightly along their length, and the size of the shrinkage along the length is usually about 5-15% of the total length of the heat shrink tube.

Cutting the heat shrink tube in sections to different lengths will not affect the use of the heat shrink tube. Heat shrinkable tubes provide insulation or increase stress relief. It shrinks quickly and is flexible and durable. Cutting the thermoplastic PR to the right length is also a key step in its use.

Heat shrink tubes typically have a long shelf life of 10-15 years, but can last longer if they are kept cool, dry and out of the sun under the right storage conditions. Once exposed to liquid or ultraviolet radiation can cause certain types of heat shrink tubes to quickly explain. Before using the heat shrink tube, it is necessary to check whether the appearance of discoloration or hardening, and avoid using this kind of heat shrink tube.
