Thickness of Heat Shrinkable Tube suitable for different voltage levels

Heat Shrinkable Tube is a type of insulation used to protect or isolate electrical components or connections from their environment. The appropriate thickness of heat shrinkable tubing is important because it determines the level of voltage the insulation can be used in.


For low-voltage applications, such as automotive and electronics, the minimum recommended wall thickness for heat shrink tubing is 0.7mm to 1.0mm. This thickness would be suitable for voltages up to 600 volts.


For medium voltage applications, such as power distribution systems, the minimum recommended wall thickness is larger, typically ranging from 1.5mm to 3.0mm. This thickness would be suitable for voltages between 600 volts up to 35 kilovolts.


For high-voltage applications, the recommended minimum wall thickness is much larger, typically ranging from 6mm to 12mm. This thickness would be suitable for voltages above 35 kilovolts.
