Details about Heat Shrinkable End Caps

Heat shrinkable end caps are pre-cut pieces of shrink tubing used to seal and insulate the ends of wires, cables, hoses, pipes and other cylindrical items. They provide environmental sealing, protection from moisture, chemicals, abrasion and corrosion.

Standard Heat Shrinkable End Caps are made of polyolefin shrink tubing, usually polyethylene or polypropylene. They shrink by 50-70% when heated to create a tight seal over the end of an object. Hi-temp, adhesive lined, and chemically resistant options are also available for harsh environments. To apply, cut end caps to size if needed, then slide over the end of the wire, cable, hose, etc. Apply heat with a heat gun and shrink the end cap until it fits snugly. The adhesive lined variety will seal completely when the adhesive melts. Let cool completely.

Heat Shrinkable End Caps come pre-cut in a range of sizes to suit items from 1/8 inch up to several inches in diameter. Choose end caps sized closely to the outer diameter of the object for the most effective seal. Loose or oversized end caps will not provide as good protection. Heat shrink end caps provide a quick, easy method to seal and insulate the ends of many cylindrical items without needing to cut and install separate connectors. They install in seconds with a heat gun.

Heat Shrinkable End Caps offer an economical solution for basic environmental sealing against common factors like moisture, dirt, chemicals and abrasion. However, for prolonged or total submersion in harsh chemicals, welded or threaded metal end caps may be better options.
